2017 Mother's Day Back 40 Challenge
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND, THE SPRING BACK 40 CHALLENGE AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST IS ON MOTHER'S DAY, SUNDAY MAY 14, 2017.
We will be serving pancakes made with organic Buttermilk and Whole Wheat flours. Michigan Maple Syrup from the CSA Farmer's Market. The Clarkston Union will be providing sausage patties. Coffee from Java Masters (Wixom MI) provided by Essence On Main.
Breakfast is included in your registration fee. BREAKFAST WILL BE SERVED FROM 8:00 am. until 12:00 noon. Eat first then ride or ride and then eat.

DAY OF REGISTRATION OPENS AT 7:30 am. AND CLOSES AT 12:00 NOON. You may start riding as soon you are done checking in at registration. 48 Mile riders are asked to start riding by 10:00am. The first 100 riders to sign in will receive a custom Back 40 Challenge Mother's Day water bottle.
Event t-shirts are pre-order only (must order by Monday, April 30, 2017) through the registration website for $20.00 dollars. Shirts are available in men's and women's sizes S-XXL, order here.
Five scenic routes to choose from: 10,16, 24, 34 (New!) and 48 miles. We have a route to please everyone!
- 10 miles - Family-friendly, mostly flat out to the rest stop and back
- 16 miles - Mostly flat with a few teaser hills
- 24 miles - Rolling hills and a few good climbs
- 34 miles - Rolling hills with some challenging climbs
- 48 miles - Rolling hills with challenging dirt roads and plenty of climbing to keep you honest
Our routes are great for a casual scenic tour, for training for the upcoming season, or preparing for a specific event.
Fully stocked rest stops until 2:00 pm, SAG service until 3:00pm.
ALL RIDERS MUST WEAR A HELMET. Fat tire, mountain bike, or cyclocross bikes only, all routes on dirt roads.
THIS TOUR WILL OCCUR REGARDLESS OF WEATHER CONDITIONS, NO REFUNDS FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER.
As always we need volunteers to help run this event. Sign up here to volunteer and receive a 2017 Back 40 T-shirt (must sign up by April 30, 2017) and also ride for free. Volunteer in the morning and ride later, or vice versa.
