A Spring Tour of the "BACK 40" on Scenic North Oakland County Back Roads. That is to say, a gravel or dirt fat tire (mountain bike, cyclocross bike) ride.

Three scenic routes to choose from:

17 Miles - Flat to rolling roads (newer route plus a rest stop!)

27 Miles - Rolling to slightly hilly (newer route back by popular demand!)

44 Miles - Rolling challenging roads (the one the only original "Back 40")


Sweating The Details

Registration opens at 7:30am and closes at 12:00pm (noon).

Registration and Start of the Ride is from Clarkston Community Education Center. (See map for instructions.)

44 mile riders are asked to start by 10:00am.

Sag service ends at 3:00pm. Rest stops close at 2:00pm

Anyone finishing after 3:00pm will be on their own.

Bicycles must be in good working order.

A Snell or ANSI approved helmet must be worn on this ride!

All riders must follow the rules of the road.

Registration fee includes; route map, sag service, promotional materials, rest/food stops, AND light refreshments at the registration/start area.

T-shirt fee includes a heavyweight 100% cotton "pre-shrunk" short sleeved t-shirt with the best ever Spring Back 40 design, and we mean it - hey we even had to add extra security measures to keep this design from falling into the hands of other bike clubs.

First 500 riders to register will receive a "Spring Back 40" water bottle absolutely free. New design for '03, you'll love it!

This tour will occur rain or shine, no refunds for inclement weather.

How To Get Here From There

From the North:
Take I-75 South to Exit #91 (Clarkston/Ortonville). Turn right (South) on M-15 (Main St. once in Clarkston). At the third traffic light turn left (East) on to Waldon Rd.. Clarkston Middle School is on the North side of Waldon Rd. about 1/2 mile from M-15 (Main St.).

From the South:
